Greg is a Principal Consultant with over 25 years of experience in applied academic research and consulting, specialises in mine closure planning. Greg is recognised as a global leader in acid and metalliferous (AMD) cover system design and source control assessment, with experience gained in Canada, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Chile, and Finland. His experience in this critical aspect of mine closure planning can help ensure environmentally sound and cost effective solutions are implemented to manage AMD risk.
Greg is the lead author on over twenty conference publications related to cover system and mine rock storage facility source control assessment.

With 16 years of experience in the mining sector, Chantelle has experience across a range of disciplines and in-depth skills in all aspects of mine closure planning, rehabilitation, stakeholder consultation, mine development study phases, leadership and project management. Commencing her career in Sustainable Development, Chantelle strives to maintain high standards in environmental and social governance, whilst delivering cost effective outcomes. Her roles have included Principal Engagement Delivery; Principal Communities and Social Performance (CSP) for Studies and Life of Mine Planning; Senior Advisor, CSP Studies; Superintendent Closure Planning; and Specialist Closure Planning.

Kent brings a wealth of knowledge and twelve years of engineering experience, specialising in the development of innovative technologies for source control and in-situ treatment methods that enhance mine waste and water quality management. Kent excels at integrating knowledge and experience from a broad range of disciplines including hydrology, geochemistry, numerical evaluation methods, and microbiology, making him a multifaceted asset to our team. Kent’s proven track record in leading projects that meet strategic objectives, such as long-term performance improvements, cost reduction, and systemic enhancements, sets him apart in our fast-paced industry. His commitment to safety, efficiency, and technical excellence is evident in every project he undertakes. Sarah is an Environmental Scientist based in regional Victoria. She has over 16 years of experience in the mining sector, across coal, iron ore and uranium assets. She has supported projects across the life of mine spectrum from the development stage through to active closure implementation. Sarah’s experience includes environmental operations, environmental monitoring, water management, leadership and mine closure execution.
Mark Pernito

Mark Pernito holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Adamson University and a Master’s degree in Geo-Engineering from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. He is a Professional Geoscientist with over 16 years of experience in mine closure, vadose and groundwater hydrogeology, environmental engineering, and geotechnical engineering. Mark brings strong expertise in technical analysis, project coordination, and numerical modeling. He has extensive experience in closure planning and the design and implementation of tailings and mine rock storage facility closures. As a numerical modeling lead, Mark played a key role in evaluating alternative waste rock storage construction methods to support a mining client’s source control initiatives, aimed at passively reducing neutral mine drainage and metal leaching. His work in this area has been featured in several peer-reviewed publications. Mark’s skills in vadose zone hydrogeology include the design of cover systems for tailings and mine storage facilities to ensure long-term environmental performance and regulatory compliance.
David Tabrett

David is a geologist with over 20 years of experience working in Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia across coal, petroleum, and iron ore. He has extensive experience in exploration, onshore petroleum, greenfield mine start-ups, production mine geology, and leadership of technical teams. David has led multidisciplinary studies, managed drilling programs, overseen the development of technical systems and governance, technology development projects, managed mine site geotechnical compliance, hazardous & non-hazardous mineral waste management, and rehabilitation/closure project reviews to implementation. David has an honours degree in Geology and a Masters of International Relations, along with professional development in Sustainability leadership.
Laura Bryce

Laura is an accomplished botanist and closure planner with over a decade of experience in the mining and conservation sectors of Western Australia. Her expertise includes development of closure strategies and management plans, botanical survey, environmental impact assessment, rehabilitation monitoring and implementation, community consultation, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. She has led and contributed to projects and technical studies integrating a range of disciplines and regulatory frameworks, balancing the various social, economic, environmental, and legislative drivers with creativity and a forward-thinking approach to ensure sustainable and effective outcomes.
Carlos Hillman
Environmental Geochemist MSc, MAusIMM

Carlos graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2019 with BSc (double major: geology and chemistry) and an MSc in environmental science. His thesis assessed the environmental effects of AMD from the James Coal Mine on the West Coast of New Zealand and novel treatment methodologies. Following this significant piece of work, Carlos has been engaged as an environmental consultant for the last 4 years joining Mine Closure Management in 2022.
